Waste on the street
Waste on the street causes mess and nuisance. It is harmful to nature and attracts pests. Street waste is caused by littering or illegal dumping. That is why it is important that we work together to keep the city clean and dispose of waste properly.
As a resident, you can help reduce waste on the street:
- Dispose of your waste in an underground collection container.
- If a (underground) container is full, use another container nearby.
- If a (underground) container is broken, contact Twente Milieu. You can also report a malfunction of a collection container in the Twente Milieu app.
- If you see waste placed next to a collection or underground container, you can report illegal dumping in the Twente Milieu app.
- If you experience nuisance from waste on the street, you can report it on the “Report an Issue” page. This page also explains how your report will be handled.
- Organize a clean-up campaign and borrow the litter collection trailer from Twente Milieu free of charge.
Fine for illegal dumping
It is prohibited to place waste next to an underground container or to dump it elsewhere. You may receive a fine for doing so. The fine for leaving waste is € 110.
Cameras at recycling points
With cameras, the municipality can more quickly identify who is dumping waste. The cameras only record the recycling points and their immediate surroundings. Homes and windows are shielded. Only footage showing someone depositing waste is stored.
The cameras are located at:
- Recycling point shopping centre Enschede Zuid
- Recycling point shopping centre De Lage Bothof
- Recycling point shopping centre Stroinkslanden
- Recycling point shopping centre Twekkelerveld
