Report your relocation

• You can report your move if you are 16 years or older.
• You can report your move from 28 days (4 weeks) before your moving date up to 5 days after your move.
• If you report your move before the moving date, we will update your address on the actual moving date, not earlier.
• You will receive a letter confirming your move no later than 5 working days after your moving date. This letter will be sent to your new address.

Important: If you report your move later than 5 days after your moving date, the date of reporting will be considered your official moving date. This may affect your benefits, allowances, or student grants. The municipality shares your new address with important institutions such as the Tax Office, your health insurer, and DUO.

Reporting a move for someone else

You can also report a move on behalf of someone else, but only if you:

• Are married or a registered partner and moving to the same address together
• Are the parent, guardian, or caregiver of a child under 16
• Are the parent of a child over 16 and moving to the same address together
• Are the legal guardian (curator) of someone under guardianship
• Have written authorization from someone over 18

Reporting a move at the City Office

If you prefer to report your move at the city office, call 14 053 to make an appointment. During this appointment, you will need:

• A valid ID.
• (Copy of) rental or purchase contract. Documents must be signed by all involved parties.

If you are moving to a care facility: a letter (residency statement) from the care facility

If you are moving in with someone:

• Written permission from the main resident. Use the consent form for registration at an address. This permission is also required if you are moving in with your parents or if you are moving in with your partner who already lives at the address.
• A copy of the main resident’s valid ID.

If you are moving to another municipality, you must report your move to your new municipality. You will automatically be deregistered from Enschede.
